In a media release from Woodside Energy Ltd, engineering company Bechtel has been named as the preferred contractor for the execution of the Pluto Train 2. The company provides design and management expertise to the project amongst other support and will work closely with Woodside towards the front-end engineering and design phase.
As stated by Peter Coleman, the CEO of Woodside, expansion of the Pluto LNG facility is criticial toward Woodside’s Burrup Hub vision. The expansion will give the required infrastructure to realise Western Australian gas commercialisation for coming years.
A brownfield expansion of the aforementioned facility is being proposed by Woodside and includes the development of another LNG train with a targeted capacity of four to five Mtpa toward the 7.3 Tcf Scarborough gas resource development.
Front-end engineering and design entry is targeted for the first quarter of 2019 with a final investment decision targeted in 2020. Start-up of the Train 2 is targeted in 2024 as written in a media release by Woodside.
